J. Ryan Humphries LPC, MACN

Ryan Humphries has lived in Atlanta since 2016 and is a 3rd generation veteran of the United States Army. During his 14 years of service, Ryan served in positions including medical logistics, security management, and as an instructor, with 6 years dedicated to senior leadership responsibilities. After his time in the military, Ryan would go on to pursue and earn his Master of Arts in Counseling from UAB in 2016. 

He has worked in detox and psychiatric stabilization, PHP and IOP, and private practice. He has also worked in Acute care settings, and palliative care. Over the course of his career, Ryan’s research interests include burnout, empathy, positive psychotherapy, and recent research focusing on happiness. He has also lectured at both the state and national level with topics including empathy, burnout, and addiction. Ryan is a trained psychotherapist and utilizes resilience and strength-based counseling in both group and individual therapy. 

In his free time, Ryan is an avid reader, writer, lecturer, hiker and has a strong passion for culinary arts.
